Chemotherapy-free regimen improves survival in Ph-positive ALL.
This study evaluates a novel chemotherapy-free approach in treating Philadelphia-positive acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL), potentially improving outcomes. 24-month event-free survival was 86% with ponatinib plus blinatumomab, versus 67% with imatinib plus chemotherapy (P<0.001). This phase 3 trial suggests a superior, less toxic treatment option for Ph-positive ALL, but further validation is needed for widespread adoption. Ponatinib with blinatumomab outperforms imatinib plus chemotherapy in treating Ph-positive ALL.
