Bihormonal closed-loop system boosts glucose control in teens with Type 1 diabetes.
Adolescents with Type 1 diabetes often struggle with glycemic control, increasing their risk of complications. A bihormonal fully closed-loop system could improve this control without the need for user input. The bihormonal FCL system increased time in range (TIR) significantly, from 61.3% to 74.9% (p < 0.001), without safety concerns over a short duration. This study suggests that the bihormonal FCL system may enhance glucose control in adolescents. However, the study is limited by its short duration and small sample size, necessitating further research. Bihormonal FCL systems may improve glycemic outcomes in adolescents with Type 1 diabetes.
