Hybrid Closed-Loop Systems Improve Pediatric Diabetes Management

Endocrinology / Diabetes / Obesity

Background Information

Hybrid closed-loop systems enhance pediatric diabetes control safely.

Managing glycemic control in young children with Type 1 diabetes is challenging, and hybrid closed-loop systems could offer better control and safety. The system increased time in range by 9.95% and reduced glycated hemoglobin by 0.51% without significant risk of severe hypoglycemia or diabetic ketoacidosis. While the hybrid closed-loop system shows promise, further large-scale studies are necessary to confirm long-term safety and efficacy. Hybrid closed-loop systems improve glycemic control in young children with Type 1 diabetes without added risk of adverse events.
