Pharmacist-led antibiotic management streamlines emergency department culture follow-up.
Implementing pharmacist-led antibiotic management in emergency departments (EDs) can enhance antimicrobial stewardship and workflow efficiency. After implementing the collaborative practice agreement (CPA), 898 interventions were recorded with 100% protocol compliance by pharmacists. This model expands pharmacist roles in EDs, demonstrating feasibility and protocol adherence, but limited to a single hospital setting. Empowering pharmacists with prescribing authority improves ED antibiotic management and protocol compliance.
