Background Information

Vedolizumab delivers better long-term stability in UC than TNF antagonists.

Choosing the optimal first-line advanced therapy for ulcerative colitis (UC) can impact long-term outcomes and disease stability. Vedolizumab initiators had a higher proportion of corticosteroid-free stability (67% vs 60-67% of quarters) compared to infliximab or adalimumab, despite similar hospitalization rates. Vedolizumab-first strategy results in better corticosteroid-free disease stability, which may aid in treatment decisions for biologic-naive UC patients. Vedolizumab leads to greater corticosteroid-free disease stability than TNF antagonists in UC.
