This retrospective Australian cohort adds local real-world confirmation that switching virologically suppressed people with HIV to the two-drug regimen dolutegravir/lamivudine (DTG/3TC) maintains suppression with minimal discontinuation.

Understanding motivations and outcomes for switching to dolutegravir/lamivudine (DTG/3TC) helps inform treatment strategies for individuals with HIV in Australia. In this study, 98% maintained virologic suppression with no reported virologic failures, and less than 1% discontinued DTG/3TC after one year. These findings support the use of DTG/3TC as a viable treatment option, with clinician preference being a key driver for switching. However, the study's demographic was predominantly White males. DTG/3TC effectively maintains HIV viral suppression and is a viable treatment option.
