This small pilot cohort offers preliminary, exploratory comparative data on how two anti-seizure medications differ in objective sleep architecture in children with self-limited epilepsy with centrotemporal spikes.
Self-limited epilepsy with centrotemporal spikes (SeLECTS) often affects sleep, impacting overall management in children. Both levetiracetam (LEV) and perampanel (PER) showed effective seizure control; PER may improve sleep architecture, reducing light sleep and awakenings. While both treatments are viable, PER may offer additional sleep benefits. Longer studies are needed for conclusive evidence. LEV and PER effectively control seizures in SeLECTS; PER shows potential sleep benefits.
