Background Information

Janus kinase inhibitors show limited efficacy in JIA-associated uveitis.

Children with juvenile idiopathic arthritis-associated uveitis (JIAU) often face chronic inflammation and limited treatment options. Janus kinase inhibitors (JAKi) showed limited success, with only 8 out of 20 patients achieving uveitis inactivity, and relapses occurring in 6 of them. The study highlights limited efficacy of JAKi in treating drug-resistant JIAU, stressing the need for alternative therapies despite some steroid sparing. JAK inhibitors may not be effective for chronic DMARD-refractory JIAU.
