Medication regimen complexity in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) can impact patient outcomes and pharmacist workload, necessitating improved predictive models. The updated MRC-ICU 2.0 score demonstrated improved predictive ability over the original, with Area Under the Receiver Operating Characteristic (AUROC) increases of +0.03 to +0.08. MRC-ICU 2.0 offers complementary predictive value to severity-of-illness scores like Acute Physiology and Chronic Health Evaluation (APACHE) II and Sequential Organ Failure Assessment (SOFA), enhancing decision-making in critical care. MRC-ICU 2.0 improves medication regimen complexity prediction and adds value when combined with other assessment tools in the ICU.
