This pre-post study offers Southeast Asian evidence that clinical pharmacist-led audit and feedback can rapidly shift surgical prophylaxis prescribing toward narrow-spectrum, guideline-concordant practice.

Pharmacist-led interventions boost antibiotic compliance in surgery.

Inappropriate use of surgical antibiotic prophylaxis (SAP) increases the risk of infections and antibiotic resistance. Compliance with SAP guidelines increased significantly from 60.49% to 76.87% following a pharmacist-led audit-feedback intervention. This study shows how pharmacist-led interventions can improve SAP practices, particularly in resource-limited settings. Duration and selection improvements were most notable. Pharmacist-led audit-feedback improves surgical antibiotic prophylaxis compliance significantly.
