Age and renal function outshine genetics in ACS bleeding risk.
Understanding genetic contributions to bleeding risk can improve individualization of antiplatelet therapy in ACS patients. Age and impaired renal function were the strongest predictors of bleeding. CYP3A5 polymorphisms showed a weak association with minor bleeding that ceased to be significant after adjustment. Genotyping for CYP3A variants provides limited value in predicting bleeding risk compared to clinical factors like age and renal function. This study's single-center design limits generalizability. Clinical factors outweigh genetic polymorphisms in predicting bleeding risk with ticagrelor DAPT in ACS.
