New biomarkers offer promise for early detection of chemotherapy-induced heart damage.

Chemotherapy-induced cardiotoxicity (CIC) can significantly impact the long-term health of cancer survivors by causing heart-related complications. Emerging biomarkers such as inflammatory cytokines, fibrosis-related proteins, and non-coding RNAs can provide earlier detection and risk stratification for CIC than traditional markers. While new biomarkers show promise, their clinical use is limited by population study variability; integration with imaging and standardized protocols is needed for effective surveillance. A multiparametric approach may enhance the precision monitoring of chemotherapy-induced cardiotoxicity.
