Background Information

Semaglutide shows promise in treating metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis.

Metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis (MASH) is a liver condition with limited treatment options, and improving liver histology could have significant health benefits. Semaglutide 2.4 mg resolved steatohepatitis in 62.9% of patients compared to 34.3% with placebo and reduced liver fibrosis in 36.8% compared to 22.4% with placebo. While semaglutide shows promise for treating MASH, gastrointestinal side effects must be considered and long-term outcomes remain to be fully evaluated. Semaglutide 2.4 mg significantly improves MASH outcomes with manageable side effects.
