Background Information

Finerenone cuts heart failure events in HFmrEF and HFpEF.

Heart failure with mildly reduced or preserved ejection fraction (HFmrEF and HFpEF) lacks effective treatments, creating a need for new options. The FINEARTS-HF trial showed finerenone reduced worsening heart failure events in patients with a left ventricular ejection fraction of 40 percent or more, compared to placebo (rate ratio, 0.82; P=0.006). Finerenone, a nonsteroidal mineralocorticoid receptor antagonist (MRA), offers a new treatment option for HFmrEF and HFpEF, filling an unmet need despite being a single trial. Finerenone reduces heart failure events in HFmrEF and HFpEF patients.
